6/10/2019 - Sheriff's Officer Erica Quinones Recognized as BaySea Scouter of the Year

At their annual BaySea District Fellowship Dinner & Eagle Scout Recognition, the BaySea District Garden State Council BSA recognized Sheriff's Officer Erica Quinones as a BaySea Scouter of the Year for her work as an Explorer Adviser.

Sheriff's Officer Quinones was also recognized by the Board of Chosen Freeholders at their May Regular Meeting for receiving this award, as well as for her commitment and dedication to the Explorer Program.  Members of the Explorers were present to speak about how Sheriff's Officer Quinones has touched their lives through the program.  They expressed how Officer Quinones goes above and beyond in her dedication to her Explorers and how she is a true role model for them.

The Cumberland County's Sheriff's Office sponsors the Police Explorers Program, which is designed to provide young men and women valuable insight into the Law Enforcement profession.  The Cumberland County Explorer Program has been in existence since 2000 and has since been providing the community with upstanding and respectable young adults.  During the the meetings, instruction is in Police procedures, law, traffic control, and related police subjects.  Trips and outings to various place, police related and for fun, are also a part of the Explorer Program.  Overall, the Explorer Program is designed to give the young adults a firsthand, inside view of Police work, and to assist them in deciding if law enforcement is for them.
