YOUNG  MARINES  HONOR  AMERICAN  VETERANS

American Flags are proudly flying all over Cumberland County.  Recently the South Jersey Young Marine Corp League, Detachment 205, placed flags on Veterans graves at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township.  Led by Commanding Officer Ted Oniszczuk, Vietnam Veteran (USMC 66-69), these young men and woman (ages 8 to 18) arrived in full uniform, and carefully placed new America Flags on Veterans graves.  One by one, these young men and woman placed American Flags on each Veterans grave.  “It was really something to see, and I’m proud to have been a part of it.  With honor and great respect, these Young Marines carefully placed about 500 American Flags on Veteran’s graves during the ceremony”, said Cumberland County Freeholder Tony Surace.  The young marines were recognized for their efforts by the Cumberland County Freeholders and a proclamation was given to them during the ceremony.  Deputy Freeholder Director Tom Sheppard said, “It’s an honor to meet such fine young men and woman with a true sense of patriotism and respect for our veterans, and to recognize them for their efforts”.

Americans recently celebrated “Flag Day”, and with its passing you may have noticed that folks are proudly displaying American Flags all across the county.  “These young marines and their efforts to honor and respect Veterans set an example for all American’s”, said Tom Sheppard, Deputy Freeholder Director of the Cumberland County Freeholder Board.  Veterans were honored, and Patriotism and the American Flag are being celebrated as Independence Day draws near.
