Members of the Millville Police Benevolent Association (PBA) 213 are asking area residents to remember the sacrifice of officer Carmen DeGregorio. Police said he intervened on November 27, 2007 when then-30-year-old Christopher Robinson of Millville tried to force his girlfriend into the trunk of his car during a domestic dispute at a Wawa gas station. DeGregorio struggled with Robinson and helped the girlfriend escape, police said, but Robinson then ran the rescuer down with his car before fleeing. DeGregorio passed away two days later from his injuries.
The Carmen DeGregorio Hero Fund was established to aid officer DeGregorios family. Seventy five percent of all donations go to an educational fund for his two children while the rest goes to a fund helping the family with expenses.
