JOB DESCRIPTION: Under direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Assistant Director of Nursing, supervises the operations of a group of patient-care units or of a specialized area, and directs the assignment and activities of professional and nonprofessional personnel; does related work as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Plans, organizes, and coordinates the implementation of established policies within the units. Assigns responsibility and delegates authority. Develops, assigns, and evaluates proper and effective work methods. Analyzes and evaluates nursing care and work performance. Prepares reports and recommendations for improvement or development. Assists in the planning for provision of adequate physical facilities and the proper utilization of personnel by initiating reports, surveys, and recommendations. Makes recommendations for staffing in units and assists in determining qualifications for personnel. Evaluates and analyzes the performance of assistant supervisors, head nurses, assistant head nurses, registered professional nurses, and all other personnel in units. Assists, confers, and plans with other divisions in one department to coordinate, evaluate, and recommend for optium implementation of complete program. Resolves complex nursing problems. Establishes priorities for patient care.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience as a general duty nurse, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
