SALARY RANGE: $12.57 hr. - $15.78 hr.
HOURS/WEEK: 19 hours per week
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under direction, assists substance abuse counselor in the substance abuse program in the correctional facility. Interviews individuals (inmates) and gathers necessary information. Provides case management, referrals to supportive community services. Assists in maintaining records and files. Organizes groups and activities for substance abuse educational or community orientation purposes. Contacts and maintains cooperative relationships with other social agencies in the community. Does other related duties.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of at least 60 semester hours or enrolled in a course of study in social work or social service related field. One (1) year of experience in a social service, health or community agency. Experience in interviewing and gathering social information from clients. Knowledge of individual and group behavior. Knowledge of case management, record keeping and documentation. Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate reports. Ability to work harmoniously with associates, individuals and social organizations. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
