We are searching for a reliable and trustworthy Warden to join our correctional facility. The Warden’s responsibilities include overseeing training and management of staff, allocating budgets, disciplinary hearings, and ensuring all inmates are treated with dignity. You will ensure the jail operates at maximum efficiency. You will be an integral part of the team identified to develop a holding center and an effective and secure inmate transportation system. The Warden will work under the direction of the County Commissioners and will be expected to cooperate with various law enforcement agencies Wardens from other counties.
The ideal candidate must understand correctional administration, operations, and security procedures and will plan, administer, organize, monitor, control, and evaluate the functions of the jail. The Warden is ultimately responsible for the custody, feeding, housing, care, treatment, rehabilitation, and discipline of inmates. Not only must you keep the personnel and inmates safe, but the outside public as well. The Warden must also monitor the safety and security systems prison while keeping the facility itself in compliance with regulations.
To be successful as a Warden, you should have sound knowledge of human behavior and possess remarkable analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.


Responsibilities:
• Manage the training and scheduling of correctional officers, maintenance staff, cooks, health care professionals, and counselors.
• Ensure all staff are familiar with the laws that govern inmates and that they always obey these laws as well as the rules of the jail.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and modify department policies and procedures.
• Monitor staff and address any performance issues and schedule training sessions where required.
• Ensure safety and security procedures are always observed, and that staff, inmates, and visitors remain protected.
• Conduct and/or assign investigations into any reports of inappropriate behavior or misconduct and take disciplinary action.
• Ensure rehabilitation and re-entry programs are working well and make recommendations wherever possible.
• Prepare and monitor annual budget and expenditures.
• Carry out a continuous effort to improve operations and work processes
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Five years of experience in management of a correctional facility or in a supervisory role as a police officer, corrections officer, or similar required.
• Must have successfully completed an approved police training course including qualification in the use of firearms.
• Other relevant licenses or certifications may be required. PTC certification preferred.
• A clean criminal record.
• Strong leadership, management, and business skills.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

Hours:
40+ hours per week. Typical work shift is Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. However, this position requires work beyond the typical shift.
Note: Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing that includes drug screenings and criminal background checks.
