Starting Salary: $28,287


DEFINITION:
Under supervision of the Superintendent, performs varied types of manual and unskilled laboring work, drives a truck in connection with laboring work, and does other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the methods, materials, and supplies used to perform varied types of manual labor.
Ability to perform manual tasks either alone or as a member of a group.
Ability to perform assigned tasks under varying temperatures and climactic conditions, around polluted water sources,
in and around dense vegetation, in and around marshlands, and be exposed to biting insects and other arthropods.
Ability to learn to use the tools and equipment necessary to perform routine, unskilled labor tasks.
Ability to follow safety precautions in the operation of assigned tools and equipment.
Cleans up underbrush, foliage, vines, and weeds. Cuts grass. Trims hedges, Waters lawns, flowers, and vegetable beds.
Cuts down trees, digs out stumps of trees, and digs out and destroys poisonous vines, weeds and undergrowth.
Learns to operate construction and/or maintenance equipment.
Ability to spend significant time independently in remote areas with restricted accessibility.
Ability to assist in public relations outreach.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Drives to various sites throughout the County to conduct light trap collections.
Sorts through light trap collections to isolate collected mosquitoes.
Sets up and disassembles vector surveillance traps.
Collects mosquitoes from vector surveillance traps.
Engages in basic trap maintenance.
Helps distribute fish to various mosquito habitats.
Collects mosquito larvae.

REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position and the ability to follow prescribed instructions.
High school diploma or GED

LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey; is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
