Starting Salary: $39,213


Duties: Under direction of the Director of Human Services, plans, organizes, administers, and coordinates a program for the utilization of volunteer workers to augment the services of regular agency staff by developing effective recruitment, training, and public relations activities; conducts orientations and arranges training for new volunteers; recruits, interviews, and assigns volunteers according to their aptitudes and interests; confers with agency administrative staff to plan a volunteer program consistent with the agency’s needs and objectives; recommends policies and procedures for in-service training of volunteers, work hours, types of services to be performed, and assignment of volunteer workers; creates a pre-planned calendar or events on a regular basis; coordinates activities at the local peer recovery community center; provides oversight and supervision of recovery coaches and volunteers; periodically counsels and evaluates individual volunteers; prepares manuals, handbooks, and guides covering policies, procedures, and programs; answers hotline calls on an on-call rotating basis; does other related duties as assigned.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.

Licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), issued by the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Department of Law and Public Safety.

Two (2) years of administrative experience in programs which involved either recruitment, selection, training, and development of employees or volunteers or provision of social service, health care, educational, welfare or other similar human services or community services.

Knowledge of in-service, orientation, and other basic training methods and materials and their adaptation to a volunteer training program. Knowledge of methods for developing training plans, materials, and goals. Ability to organize and develop programs for the recruitment of volunteers. Ability to speak effectively before community groups and communicate effectively to various types of people.

Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week, some weekend and evening hours required.

Note: Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical
fitness testing, to include drug screenings, and criminal background checks.
