Definition:
Under the direction, supervises and coordinates the activities of motor pool in scheduling, assignment, and maintenance of motor vehicles; does other duties as required.

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in coordinating a large scale fleet of motor vehicles which entailed responsibility for the maintenance and servicing of vehicles as well as the leasing or assignment of vehicles to individuals.

Requirements:
Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license. (Commercial Driver’s License / CDL w/ air brakes)
Ability to work independently and the ability to successfully operate in a detail-oriented environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the County. Ability to analyze problems, organizes assigned work, and develops effective work methods.

Example of Work:
Schedules and assigns motor vehicles to authorized personnel on a priority basis.
Periodically inspects motor vehicles and schedules repair and service work.
Procures state required certificate of ownership and arranges for the registration and state inspection of vehicles.
Supervises the storage and safekeeping of vehicles when not in use.
Establishes and maintains and inventory of all motor vehicles.
Evaluates the condition and recommends the replacement of motor vehicles and equipment.
Will negotiate with vendors to spec out motor vehicles and automotive equipment and supplies for purchase.
Supervises the recording of expenses and analyzes purchase and repair costs in order to control expenditures.
Maintains compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
Ability to prepare reports of the motor vehicle management program and maintain records and files.

Hours:
Shifts vary and include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. 40 Hours per week work.

Note:
Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing that includes
drug screening, criminal background check, and verifications of clean driving record. Including ongoing random drug
and alcohol testing.
