Community Service Worker (Drug Abuse) - Substance Use Navigator
**Provisional – Pending NJ Civil Service Procedures**
Department of Human Services
Salary Range: $61,000

Duties: Under direction, plans and coordinates activities in order to inform the public of the substance abuse prevention services available through the agency’s program; responsible for developing and fundraising activities and community support for the agency and its programs; conducts research, extracts data, prepares official documentation consisting of letters, memorandums, reports, proposals, and other materials in the area of substance abuse; does related work as required.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in counseling, social work,
or related field.

Must be a licensed mental health professional (LAC, LPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT.

Three (3) years of experience in the field of drug abuse, prevention or control, and mental health.

Knowledge of substance abuse, the problems involved and the programs and other options
available to deal with them. Knowledge of analyzing and evaluating community drug abuse
informational needs and resources. Ability to communicate effectively in a written and verbal
format. Ability to work effectively with various groups and organizations. Ability to plan,
organize, and develop a community informational program relating to drug abuse.

Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday

Note: Applicants who do not meet the educational requirement may substitute additional related work
experience on a year for year basis.

Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness
testing, to include drug screenings, and criminal background checks.
