Librarian I (Serves as Reference Librarian)

Starting Salary: $35,287
Duties: Under supervision, performs functions at the entry level of the professional librarian class of job providing a variety of library services. A large majority of the position’s duties involve providing research services, answering reference questions and explaining the use and availability of reference sources in all appropriate formats. Also, performs collection development, programming, outreach, and other related work as required.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.
Proficiency in Microsoft office is necessary. Familiarity with searching SIRSI/Dynix-based library catalog and prior experience with a public computer time and print management system preferred. Familiarity with a variety of electronic resources and the ability to assist the public and staff in making effective use of electronic resources.
Hours: Full-time, position not to exceed 35 hours per week. Will be required to work every third Saturday and one evening each week.
