Substance Abuse Counselor I or Substance Abuse Counselor Intern
(1 Full-Time and 1 Part-Time Position Available)

Salary Range: Full-Time ($32,944-$36,844), Part-Time ($18.03 per hour)

Duties: Under direction of a Supervising Counselor (LCADC) the

Substance Abuse Counselor I conducts interviews and gathers needed information. Under supervision, collects and documents substance abuse histories. Prepares and submits reports, maintains records, prepares treatment plans, conducts individual, group, and family sessions for adults and adolescents. Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships with involved agencies. Keeps current with literature and practices in the field of substance abuse counseling. Participates in the development of educational and/or services programs.

Substance Abuse Counselor Intern receives formal clinical supervision and training in accordance to NJAC 13:34C-6.2, 6.3 (a-k). Learns the skills, duties and tasks required to provide substance abuse counseling, treatment services. Does other related duties, as assigned. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic recording and information systems used by the agency.

Employees will perform other reasonably related business and/or clinical duties as assigned by the Clinical supervisor and/or Program Director.

Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week/Part-time 17 hours per week, Monday through Friday

Requirements:
Must be able to work with clients and maintain confidentiality in accordance to 42 CFR and HIPAA regulations. Must be able
to read, write, and speak the English language. Must be able to read, write and speak Spanish if hired to work with
Spanish-speaking population.

Counselor I Applicants must possess a certificate as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), issued by the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Department of Law and Public Safety.

Intern Enrollment in CADC/LCADC course work required under N.J.A.C. 13:34C-2.3(b)4. To complete the 12 core functions of substance abuse counseling. Employees will be granted a maximum of three (3) years from date of hire to complete the Intern Program.

Note: Applicants who possess the credentials as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) are
considered to have met the above certification requirements. Offers of employment for this title are
contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing, to include drug screenings, and criminal
background checks.
