Starting Salary: $36,000

Duties: Reports to the Supervising Public Safety Telecommunicator or other supervisory official; receives and transmits police, fire, other emergency alarms and telephone requests and communicates to appropriate agencies and personnel; operates a variety of equipment including terminal-computer oriented data processing and communications equipment; works rapidly and accurately under time pressures, distractions and stress; maintains information received and ensures confidentiality; cooperates with supervisory officers to assure accurate and prompt handling of all calls; related work as required.

Requirements: One (1) year of experience in work involving the receiving, transmitting, and relaying of
video display and/or radio messages, and in the receiving, relaying, and recording of complaints and requests for emergency assistance, which shall have included the use of video display, data processing, automatic number identification, automatic location
identification, switching equipment, or other computer oriented-equipment.

Possession of a current Basic Public Safety Telecommunicator certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification. Demonstrated ability to quickly comprehend written and oral explanations and demonstrations. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in a pleasant manner. Familiarity with basic laws and regulations, including the laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures of the FCC. Ability to function harmoniously in an organized and effective teamwork environment dependent upon responsiveness and accuracy.

Note: Typical work shifts include 12-hour shifts of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness screening and criminal background checks.
