Starting Rate: $28,107

Duties: Reports to the CATS (Cumberland Area Transit System) Program Director; operates a radio to communicate with CATS drivers and other department employees; transmits and receives communications in accordance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations/policies; transmits and receives CATS communications; receives complaints and information; makes entries, inquiries, cancellations, and modifications of records as requested; receives and answers telephone, radio and/or video display inquiries; responds to inquiries regarding the application of regulations or policies; performs occasional keyboarding that is not complicated and does not require speed; prepares and maintains records of calls; maintains records and files; performs related duties as required.

Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in Spanish and English. Six (6) months of experience in radio dispatching or work involved in the operation of radio and telephone equipment. Possession of an FCC Radio Operator License may be substituted for experience. Computer literacy. Familiarity with FCC rules and regulations required to operate a short wave radio system. Ability to understand, recall, and carry out oral and written directions. Ability to recognize and report potentially hazardous situations. Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations. Ability to perform repetitive operations like answering inquiries without loss of patience, or courtesy. Ability to write accurate and comprehensive reports. Ability to work effectively with associates, superiors and the public. Ability to ensure that calls are handled accurately and promptly.

Hours: Thirty-five (35) hours per week; Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
