Salary Range: $34,405 - $47,603
Duties: Under direction of Motor Pool Supervisor, performs varied mechanical work involved in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of motor vehicles and construction equipment working with various machines and hand tools common to the trade; does related work as required.
Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and construction equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, cranes, road graders, excavators, or similar equipment.
Experience in diesel mechanics preferred.
Successful completion of one (1) year of training in automotive technology at an accredited community college or vocational school.
Possession of industry-related certifications based on type of mechanic work performed
(Example; emission repair, brake repair, suspension and steering).
Note: Applicants who do not possess the required year of formal training as outlined above may substitute one (1) additional year of experience as outlined above or possession of a certificate as an Automotive Mechanic issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
Offers of employment for this title are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness testing that includes drug screenings, criminal background checks, and verifications of clean driving records. Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicles being operated. Regulations include ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
