Starting Salary: $36,901

Duties: Under the direct supervision of a supervising Employment Specialist, conducts formal and informal classes and training designed to address the employment and/or educational needs of the participants. Provides occupational, vocational, or educational instruction which may include remedial education, GED preparation and/or job search skills. Identifies participants educational and employability needs based on test results, course requirements, and level of participants’’ job readiness. Prepares curriculum using a wide range of relevant software programs, text books, and audio visual equipment and materials. Maintains an orderly classroom. Instructs participants in the development of resumes, cover letters, and proper completion of employment applications. Administers GED pre-testing and conducts GED preparation classes, including essay writing. Maintains essential student records and reports. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience as indicated below on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience. Knowledge of training methods and procedures relevant to the area of specialization. Ability to organize and implement assignments. Ability to prepare reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Experience: One (1) year of experience in counseling, teaching, and/or guidance in an organized educational program or employment agency, or a combination of.

Hours
: Typical work shifts are daytime shifts Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week.
