Employment Counselor – Youth Unit

Salary Range: $32,169 - $47,617

Duties: Under supervision, performs tasks related to intake and eligibility determination, EDP/ISS preparation, referral to and interaction with contracted service providers, career counseling, interactions with educational community in particular secondary schools, presentations to community groups on youth programs and services, delivering off-site services, and does other related duties as required.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree including or supplemented by fifteen (15) semester hour credits in vocational guidance or other courses directly related to vocational counseling preparation. Ability to follow oral and written directions in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with the public. Knowledge of modern office methods to include experience with email and Microsoft Office products. Good organizational and analytical skills. Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Note: Applicants who have successfully completed the required fifteen (15) semester hour credits specified above may substitute experience as indicated above on a year-for-year basis for the remaining education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits is considered one (1) year of college.

Note:
A Master's degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Personnel Administration, Counseling, Student Personnel Services, or related fields which shall have included a minimum of fifteen (15) semester hour credits of graduate study in vocational guidance or other courses directly related to counseling preparation may be substituted for the one (1) year of experience.

Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness screenings and
criminal background checks.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
