Salary: Dependent Upon Skills and Experience
Duties: Reports to the County Administrator; makes office and field investigations originating from consumer complaints received from the general public; mitigates, mediates and resolves consumer complaints; oversees Office of Weights and Measures operations and staff; reviews consumer contracts, sales agreements, guarantees, and warranties; interviews consumers, merchants, manufacturers, contractors, and others to obtain factual or comparative data relative to complaints under investigation; acts as a liaison between the New Jersey Office of Consumer Affairs and the County of Cumberland; makes onsite inspections; initiates and participates in informal conferences; assist other county and state Consumer Affairs Offices with investigations; performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements: Seven (7) years of experience in a program or institutional setting involving emergency services and consumer affairs/protection procedures, five (5) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Experience in interviewing, conflict resolution. Knowledge and experience with consumer related issues as they affect a program of consumer complaint investigation. “Consumer Protection Investigator” training and certification from the New Jersey Office of Consumer Affairs required. Possession of a degree from an accredited college or university preferred or commensurate experience. Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week. Flexibility necessary, as weekend hours will be required.
