Environmental Specialist (Provisional, Pending Civil Service Procedures)

Salary Range: $43,649 – $58,527

-or-

Registered Environmental Health Specialist (Provisional, Pending Civil Service Procedures)

Salary Range: $46,766 – $61,969

 

Duties:                 Environmental Specialist:  Under direction, is responsible for scientific investigations                                      including field and office studies associated with environmental pollution abatement and land management; does related work as required.
REHS:  Under direction, performs sanitary inspection and environmental health work involved in the enforcement of relevant sanitary, environmental, and public health laws and rules within the 

concerned jurisdiction; conducts inspections, investigations, and educational outreach activities; performs other related duties as required and/or necessary.

*This position will be working directly in the inspection and enforcement of our solid waste program.
 
Requirements: Environmental Specialist:
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in the environmental, biological, or chemical sciences or in environmental engineering.

NOTE: A valid Professional Engineer's License issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineer's and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the degree in environmental engineering.

 

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of professional experience in environmental control work including field investigations and inspections and environmental impact analysis.

NOTE: Possession of an environmentally oriented Master's degree in the environmental, biological, or chemical sciences, or in engineering may be substituted for the above work experience.

 

                               LICENSE:  Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey

                                

                               REHS:

LICENSE:  Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey and a valid Registered Environmental Health Specialist License issued by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services.
