Building Maintenance Worker (Interim)
Public Works (Buildings and Grounds)
Salary Range: $30,814 – $41,595
|
Duties: Reports to an assigned supervisory official; performs varied, simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks involving the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds; washes windows, floors, polishes floors, dusts, cleans lavatories, moves furniture and polishes metal fixtures, collects trash, mows lawns, trims hedges, shovels snow and spreads salt in winter; assists carpenters, painters, and plumbers, which includes carrying tools and cleaning up after jobs are completed; may assist in making minor repairs to buildings or equipment; related duties as assigned.
Requirements: Knowledge of the problems, procedures, methods and supplies used in cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to perform these job duties. Ability to move objects weighting about 50 pounds. Ability to carry out instructions. Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
Hours: Typical work shift is 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Monday through Friday).
