Division Head

Nutrition Program for the Elderly

Office on Aging and the Disabled

Salary Range:  $47,884 - $59,856

 

Duties:                   Reports to the Department Head; plans, organizes, and administers a comprehensive nutrition program including congregate sites and home-delivery of meals; manages the work operations and/or functional programs; supervises, trains, mentors and evaluates employees; recommends hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, and/or disciplining of employees; plans, organizes, and administers a nutrition program including support services in accordance with guidelines; identifies existing community agencies, organizations and individuals with a potential to provide support services; establishes a liaison with resource agencies and individuals to ensure the provision of the project or required support social services such as outreach, escort services, transportation, recreation and leisure activities, information and referral, health and welfare counseling, and nutrition education; plans and coordinates the use of all available social services; prepares and/or assists in preparing specifications for food and/or equipment purchases; establishes record keeping systems to ensure project compliance with State Sanitary Code and the nutrient standard method and/or any system which regulates the physical content of the meals served; prepares periodic and special reports especially programmatic/fiscal reports relating to USDA reimbursement; prepares correspondence and necessary research; related duties as required.

 

Requirements:     Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  Three years of paid or volunteer experience in social work, public health, gerontology, education, psychology, community organization, nursing home administration, nutrition, dietetics, home economics or social/human services.  A master’s degree in any of the above fields may be substituted for one year of experience.   Supervisory experience.  Strong computer literacy.  Knowledge of available community and state agencies and resources.  Ability to plan and supervise programs involving nutrition needs and support services.
