Omnibus Operator

Part-Time, As-Needed

Office on Aging and the Disabled

Starting Hourly Rate: $16.78

 

 

Duties:                  Reports to the CATS (Cumberland Area Transit System) Director; drives motor vehicles with passenger capacity of at least six persons; transports riders via assigned and established routes or to special activities and  events at various destinations; cleans vehicle interior and makes recommendations for engine and other repairs; performs and documents regular safety checks on vehicles; assists passengers on and off vehicles; maintains order and discipline among passengers; provides aide and/or helper services for riders needing special assistance; performs related duties as required.

 

Requirements:  Possession of valid New Jersey CDL with passenger endorsement.  Physical ability to assist clients on and off vehicles, including wheelchair passengers.  Ability to follow oral and written directions.  Ability to analyze problems regarding operations and daily schedule of vehicles.  Ability to write required reports and keep necessary records.  Ability to drive vehicles in a skilled and safe manner.

 

Hours:                   As-needed. Not to exceed 19.5 hours per week.

 

Note:                    Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of physical fitness screening, driving history reviews, and criminal background checks.  Position is subject to on-going periodic and random substance abuse testing.
