Supervising Juvenile Detention Officer (Interim)

Duties: Reports to the Department Head or other supervisory designee; supervises a group of senior juvenile detention officers and/or juvenile detention officers; revises established work schedules to meet changes in workload; assigns officers to positions; assigns tasks to provide new officers with the experience and training required to perform the work; may have responsibility for the complete operation and security of the juvenile facility on assigned shifts; does related work.
Education Requirements: Successful completion of a training program approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission within the time period prescribed by law or the New Jersey Police Training Commission.
Experience Requirements: Three (3) years of experience in the care and custody of juveniles or young inmates confined in an institution. Current Civil Service classification as a permanent Senior Juvenile Detention Officer preferred.
Hours: Assignments typically occur Monday through Friday. Work hours to be determined.
Note: Should this position’s vacancy become permanent and the department wishes to refill the vacancy, then a provisional appointment may be made pending Civil Service procedures to permanently appoint into the Supervising Juvenile Detention Officer title.
