JOB DESCRIPTION: A head nurse is a unit manager who has clinical responsibility for the 24 hour quality care for residents on the unit. A head nurse coordinates the interdisciplinary assessment and care planning process. A head nurse supervises all aspects of nursing care and promotes the rehabilitative focus of OBRA. A head nurse assists in the development of nursing care delivery systems, develops standards of care, monitors the quality of care and makes changes in practice to improve resident outcomes. As a unit manager a head nurse may interview prospective employees, supervises all nursing employees on the unit, provides training, counsels, evaluates and recommends disciplinary action.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: R.N., currently licensed in New Jersey. Minimum of one year of experience as an RN, preferably in a leadership capacity. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of professional nursing standards and practice standards of gerontological nursing. Leadership ability and good personal relation skills.
