Senior Engineering Aide
(A full-time, temporary position of about one year in duration)

$38,964 - $45,352

Duties: Reports to the County Engineer; performs instrument work, including center lines, running levels, preparing cross sections, slope staking roadways and staking out drainage structures; checks grading and location of materials in embankments according to grades shown on slope stakes; calculates and plots level notes; computes and balances earth work quantities; serves as an instrument person; uses the transit, plane, table and level; reduces level notes; plots and calculates cross sections; makes mathematical calculations; prepares daily inspection reports; prepares and checks contract progress estimates; prepares laboratory specimens for testing and makes routine tests involving the strength, composition and quality of construction materials; keeps records; related duties as assigned.

Requirements: Two years of sub-professional engineering experience involving inspections, surveys, tests, drafting, and mathematical computations, or other sub-professional engineering. Engineering education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-to-year basis with 30 semester hour credits equal to one year of experience. Knowledge of the characteristics and properties of the materials and of the instruments used in road and other engineering construction activities.
