JOB DESCRIPTION: Under direction, organizes, manages, and directs operation of a outpatient substance abuse treatment program. Takes the lead in ensuring that counselors are providing assessment, individual or group counseling to individuals or families who participate in a program involving the prevention, or treatment for alcohol and drug abuse. Directly reviews the work of substance abuse counselors and interns for the purpose of accountability, teaching, quality assurance, training, etc. Conducts team meetings and develops schedules and work plans. Monitors the performance of alcohol and drug counseling, provides regular consultation, guidance and instruction. Provides the public with information concerning alcoholism and drug addiction; acts of liaison between various concerned organizations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: At least five years (5) of experience providing counseling in the treatment of alcohol and drug dependent persons, two years of which shall have been in a supervisory/management capacity. Must possess a license as a Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) issued by the state of New Jersey, Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, holds a Master's degree in counseling or social work. A NJ licensed professional counselor (LPC) NJ licensed social worker (LCSW) who is a certified clinical supervisor (CCS).

Knowledge of developing and maintaining policies and procedures. Knowledge of developing quality assurance programs. Knowledge of ASAM placement criteria, DSM IV, counseling approaches and interventions.

Ability to evaluate and assess the work and skills of counseling staff and interns. Knowledge and ability to schedule, manage and oversee the work behavior of staff. Ability to establish a therapeutic relationship with clients. Ability to prepare clear and accurate documentation of findings. Ability to collect, identify and evaluate significant facts; and maintain essential records and files.
