COUNTY TO HOLD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR LIVES LOST DURING PANDEMIC

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NEW JERSEY (July 30, 2021) In conjunction with the City of Bridgeton and the Bridgeton Ministerial Association, the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners is sponsoring a Cumberland County Day of Remembrance on Saturday August 7, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bridgeton City Park’s Amphitheater at Sunset Lake. A memorial service, led by the Bridgeton Christian Ministers Association, will include a symbolic candle lighting, prayers, psalms and songs to remember and honor family and friends who have died during the COVID Pandemic.

Joseph Derella, Director of the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners, describes the event as, “a unique opportunity for our entire community to come together to provide support and strength to one another as we remember our loved ones.” Derella continued, “One tragic consequence of COVID-19 is that the protocols that have kept us safe, prevented us from honoring those who have left us during the Pandemic in a way that pays the respect they deserve and brings some measure of closure to us.”
Director Derella is asking that all bells within the county be rung in unison at 6:30 p.m., “We are calling upon churches, schools, businesses, and individuals to ring bells as one Cumberland County community in a show of love and respect.” The program for the County Day of Remembrance will feature a diverse array of community and spiritual leaders who will inspire hope for the future as the County remembers those we have lost. “I hope everyone takes advantage of this special opportunity to come together as a Cumberland County family. If you can’t come to the event, grab a bell and join us at 6:30 in ringing out our message of love, respect and hope.”
