Bright Star Touring Theatre, a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC, is visiting the Cumberland County Library with their production of Jackie Robinson.

In this 45 minute interactive production, Jackie Robinson takes the stage and goes to bat for equal rights and the integration of professional sports. At a time when segregation was the law, Jackie Robinson was an American hero and an icon of America's favorite past time who stood up for what he knew to be right. The life and work of Jackie Robinson are recreated in this triumphant tale of one man's journey to forever change America. Brimming with inspiration, perseverance and hope, Jackie Robinson's story is sure to be a hit among young audiences. (K-5th Grade)

From the National Undgerground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati to audiences across America, this inspiring production has received nationwide acclaim.

African Folktales is a 45 minute production that brings to life the vastness of the African landscape and a variety of clever animals. Join Akili as she shares these exciting tales that were traditionally passed down by word of mouth. With imaginative costumes and lots of audience participation, this production also includes valuable character-education themes.
