2/11/2013 - Celebrate Black History at County Library

Children’s Reading Program

Tuesday, February 26th at 6:30pm the Cumberland County Library’s Children’s Reading Program will be celebrating Black History Month. We are welcoming Christina Campbell. Ms. Campbell will discuss the history of African Culture and the story of African mask making with children and their parents.

Along with the discussion, children will be guided in making their own mask. The participants are encouraged to do a little research on their family heritage to incorporate it into their mask. The mask will show their pride in their cultural background. “This project helps to promote cultural awareness within our community, self-esteem and appreciation of other cultures by breaking down barriers of different cultures in the world around us” says Ms. Campbell. Come out and give your child a chance to express their artistic abilities and gain appreciation of African Culture.

Registration is required for this program. You may sign up at the front desk of the Cumberland County Library. For further information, call 856-453-2210 ext. 101.
