Corrections Officers Set for Annual Charity Car Wash

Four the fourth year in a row, corrections officers at the Cumberland County Jail will be washing cars the last Saturday in June to help local seniorsThis year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, June 25th from 10 AM to 5 PM at the County Jail beat the summer heat. The annual car wash, sponsored and staffed by members of P.B.A. Local 231 raises money to purchase fans for seniors throughout Cumberland County.

This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, June 25th from 10 AM to 5 PM at the County Jail. Officers will wash cars for $7, and SUVs and large trucks for $10.

Last year, the car wash netted more than $800 dollars for the senior fan drive. This year’s recipients will be Vineland Housing Authority , Bridgeton Housing Authority and Hopewell Senior Center. All were prescreened for needs. Noteworthy sponsors are Upper Deerfield Wal-Mart , Bridgeton Advanced Auto and Big John's Pizza. Local 231 members say this is a way for the officers to reach beyond the walls of the jail and into the community they serve.
