11/19/2011 - AARP Driver Safety Program November 19th

The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. The AARP course has helped millions of drivers remain safe on roads.

Participants learn about:

  • The effects of medications on driving.
  • How to minimize the effects of dangerous blind spots.
  • How to maintain the proper following distance behind another car.
  • The safest ways to change lanes and make turns at busy intersections.
  • Eliminating distractions, such as eating, smoking, and cell-phone use.
  • Properly using safety belts, air bags, and anti-lock brakes.
