Elected Officials Can Race In Tea Burner Run/Walk

The annual Tea Burner run/walk is scheduled, rain or shine, for Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 8:30 a.m., in Greenwich Township. Competitions include a 5K run and a 1K Run/Walk. The event kicks off the annual Cumberland County Historical Society's Artisans Faire.

There will be $100 cash prizes for the top overall male and female 5K runners, Greenwich locals have a chance to win special prizes for the top three male and female 5K runners. Tea Burner medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers will be awarded by age group.

The Cumberland County Mayors Challenge continues. All county elected officials are encouraged to participate in this year's Mayors Challenge.

Preregistration fees are $15 for the 5K and $10 for the 1 Mile Run/Walk for those 11 and older. The 1 Mile Run/Walk will be $5 for those under 11 years-old. Day of race registration fees are $20 for the 5K, $15 for the 1 Mile Run/Walk and $10 for the 1 Mile Run/Walk for those under 11 years-old.

Proceeds of the race benefit the C Wallis Goodwin Scholarship fund and the Greenwich Fire and Rescue Squad.
