6/28/2009 - Delaware Bay Lighthouse Sunset Cruises

The Delaware Bay Lighthouse Keepers & Friends Association has scheduled its lighthouse cruises for 2009.

There will be two Sunset Cruises on Sundays, June 28 and Aug. 23, leaving the dock at 4:30 p.m., and two Moonlight Cruises, on Saturdays, July 11 and August 8, leaving the dock at 6:30 p.m.

If you want to go on any of these trips, please sign up immediately. They fill very quickly. Cost is $30 per person for adults and $15 per person for children. Passengers are asked to be at dock 5, at the state marina, in Fortescue, by 3:45 p.m. for the Sunday cruises and 5:45 p.m. for the Saturday cruises.

Trips are approximately four hours and will visit four lighthouses and the foundation of one former lighthouse.

They will alternate from Ship John South on June 28 to Brandywine North on Aug. 8. Lighthouses visited will include Elbow of Cross Ledge, the granite foundation of the old Cross Ledge lighthouse, Miah Maull Shoal and Fourteen Foot Bank. The Brandywine trips and Ship John trips will include either of these lighthouses.

Bring bug spray for the dock, a jacket for the bay and a camera for some great photo opportunities. You may also bring a brown bag lunch. Sodas will be provided.
