Harsh Winter Takes Toll on County Roadways

            Bridgeton, NJ - With Spring just days away, the Cumberland County Department of Public Works and Property wants you to know that they are working very hard to address potholes that have been created due to the extreme weather the County has been challenged with this winter.

            County Engineer John Knoop said, “The harsh winter has taken a toll on our County Road Network.  Now that we have a break from the snow and severe cold temperatures, our Public Works crews have been busy addressing numerous potholes that have developed over the winter”.

            Since the break in the weather, the County has had a minimum of 6 crews working throughout the County filling potholes using over 50 tons of cold patch.  In addition, the County’s Spray Patch Truck has been on the road every day over the last week filling more than 200 potholes.

            Deputy Director and Freeholder Liaison to Public Works Doug Long said, “We are encouraging the public to report potholes or dangerous road conditions utilizing the County’s on line Roadway Service Request Form that can be obtained from the County’s home webpage at cumberlandcountynj.gov.

We also ask that the motoring public use caution when navigating the roads especially in areas where crews are working to repair to roadways.  As always we appreciate the public’s patience while repairs are being made.  Remember, Safety First”.
