Cumberland County Library is offering the following programs for the month of August:

Computer Classes

Saturday, August 16: Photoshop 8.0: Intro to Photoshop, 10:00am – 11:30am

Monday, August 18: Word Basic, 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Tuesday, August 19: Word Basic, 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Wednesday, August 20: Computer Basic I, 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Saturday, August 23: Jobs 4 Jersey: Using Word Template as Your Resume, 10:00am – 11:30am

Monday, August 25: Basic Internet I, 3:00pm – 4:30pm; Excel Basic, 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Tuesday, August 26: Basic Internet II, 3:00pm – 4:30pm; Excel Basic, 6:00pm -7:30pm

Wednesday, August 27: Computer Basic II, 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Classes are free for Cumberland County residents and $5 for non-residents.

 

Yoga Classes will be offered on Monday at 10:30am on August 4, 11, 18, and 25, and on Wednesday at 6:30pm on August 6, 13, 20, and 27. The classes are free.

 

The library is hosting Movie Night on August 11 at 5:30pm. After his son Nemo is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish named Marlin sets out on a journey to bring him home. Rated G. Admission is free to all. On August 16 at 2pm, the library will host a free public presentation, “Bessie Coleman: Fly Bessie, Fly”. Scholar and actor Dr. Daisy Century of The American Historical Theatre will portray Bessie Coleman in an hour-long performance including time for questions and answers from the audience.  Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey Historical Commission/Department of State and the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission.

 

On August 23 at 11am, the Sciencetellers will visit the library in a free and fun event for kids and families. Sciencetellers combines storytelling, comedy, and exciting science experiments into a dynamic and highly interactive learning experience. For 10 years they’ve been delighting children and their families with their energetic and unique style of immersion storytelling. The topic of the program is “Dragons and Dreams”.

 

The next Cumberland County Library Commission Board Meeting will take place on August 26 at 4:00pm. The meeting will be held in the NJ Room located at the Cumberland County Library. This meeting will be held in compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act of 1975, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975.
