7/8/2013 - Library Children's Program

Cumberland County Library Children’s Program

Monday, July 15th at 1:30pm Miss Melody will be starting the summer reading program off with the toddler/preschool group. She will read: Chippy Chipmunk Parties in the Garden by Kathy M. Miller. Chippy the chipmunk has quite an adventure in the garden. Miss Melody will talk about gardens and the big role they will play in the summer reading program. Kids will get their summer reading bags full of information and goodies. After the story, the children will help Miss Melody start a butterfly garden! Children will also take home their own plants to grow at home. Children’s programs are free and open to the public. It is never too late to sign up. Come out and enjoy reading with your child at the Cumberland County Library.

Tuesday, July 16th at 6:30pm Miss Melody will begin the summer reading program with the K-6 group. Kids will receive their bags with the information about the summer reading program and goodies inside. The children will be listening to: The Curious Garden by Peter Brown. Miss Melody will talk a little about gardening and the importance of gardening to this year’s summer reading theme. Children will join Miss Melody outside to start a butterfly garden! Starting a garden is dirty work, so please make sure you dress accordingly. The children will love getting dirty and working together to create something special. Throughout the summer, the children will continue to help care for the garden.

It is not too late to join the summer reading program! The summer reading program keeps kids reading throughout the summer by showing how much fun reading can be and offering incentives each week. The people who attend the most programs have a chance to win 4 tickets to Adventure Aquarium at the end of the summer. Come out and join the fun! All children’s programs are free and open to the public.
