General Notice of Layoff

County of Cumberland

TO:                  County of Cumberland Employees

 

FROM:            Joseph L. Rossi

Director of Personnel

 

 

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 11A:8-1, this is to notify all employees that for reasons of economy it is possible that they will be laid off or demoted from their positions.   

 

If your position is subject to layoff, you may have the right to displace employees in other positions.

 

These layoffs will be effective at the close of the work day on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. This notification provides the required, minimum 45-day layoff notice.  Unless otherwise extended by the Commissioner of Personnel this notice expires no later than 120 days from the date of issuance.

 

It is not yet possible to determine the exact effect this layoff action will have on each employee. This is to notify all employees that they may be affected by the exercise of the seniority, lateral, demotion, and/or special re-employment rights of other employees.  The N.J. Department of Personnel shall determine such rights.  

 

The impacted employees and the County of Cumberland will be notified of these determinations prior to the layoff effective date.

 

Appeals procedures will be sent to impacted employees by the Department of Personnel.

I certify that a copy of this layoff notice was posted and served personally or via certified mail to each potentially affected Cumberland County employee on April 24 or 25, 2012.
