TARGET GRANT:
Cumberland County Library has received an Early Childhood Reading Grant from Target, in recognition of its efforts to encourage children to read. The grant will be used to fund three children’s programs with expenses including arts and crafts events, the purchase of new children’s books, and the hiring of children’s program presenters.
This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since 1946, Target has given 5 percent of its income to communities. Today, that giving equals more than $3 million every week.

ANTI-TRUST SETTLEMENT:
Salton Inc., the makers of the George Forman Grill, distributes funds to New Jersey libraries. Cumberland County Library has received $2,722.24 to purchase books and DVDs on healthy living and nutritious eating.

New Jersey has distributed funding from an anti-trust settlement against the makers of the George Foreman Grill to public libraries throughout New Jersey.

The money stems from an anti-trust lawsuit in 2002 between the company and 44 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, in which Salton, Inc. has been ordered to pay $271,030 to the state of New Jersey as part of an $8 million settlement.

The state decided that the money would benefit public libraries throughout New Jersey, and turned it into a grant program, in which libraries were given until June 13 to request the money.

Cumberland County Library requested inclusion in the grant, received funds and is currently in the process of selecting books and films on healthy eating and living.

Cumberland County Library is located at 800 E. Commerce St. (Route 49), Bridgeton, NJ. Call 856-453-2210 Ext. 110 for information.
