Summer Readers Explore One World, Many Stories!

This summer, the Bridgeton Public Library challenged young readers to participate in its One World, Many Stories reading program – and they accepted that challenge! One hundred and sixty-one kids, ages one month to eighteen years, registered for the program that featured events including magic and puppet shows, book discussions, a river tubing trip and more.

Wee Readers, a program for babies up to age four, invited parents and children to complete activities that promote early literacy skills together. Upon completion of the program, children received a free cookie coupon donated by Century Bakery and a free book. Five to eleven year-olds could record either books or number of pages read for opportunities to win weekly prize drawings, while teens, ages twelve to eighteen, recorded number of pages read. All participants who read at least five books, or five hundred pages, were invited to a free skating party provided by Skate 2000! In addition, everyone who participated was entered to win a life-size, cardboard cut-out of Greg Heffley—the famous Wimpy Kid of the popular book series. Allison Lowry, age 11 of Hopewell, was the lucky winner!

The Bridgeton Library would like to congratulate all of its summer reading program members, and thank the following businesses that generously donated prizes for its program:
