Sheriff’s Department received five new patrol bicycles. Officials say the bikes will allow sheriff’s officers to cover more ground in areas not accessible by car.

The bicycles, valued at $1,200 each, are equipped sirens, silent gears and flashing lights. They will initially be used for “special details,” including offering support patrols at Millville’s First Friday events, the Wheels & Wings Airshow and the Harvest Festival in Deerfield Township.

Businesses that contributed toward purchasing the bicycles include Lilliston Ford, D’Ottavio Produce, Mamcita Inc., Fresh Wave, Russo Farms, RFC Container, DeSoto Jewelers, Leone Produce, Rigo Produce, Robert Ferrari, Krichmar Produce, Joshua Motors, Mike & Matt Produce, Chemglass Life Sciences and Maple Valley Nursery.
