Administers State and County funds for prevention and treatment programs that address alcohol, drug abuse and addiction.
Coordinates planning these services for county residents through the development of the Annual Comprehensive Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Plan.
Receives state funding to ensure the availability of treatment services for the indigent (i.e. detoxification, inpatient, outpatient, and halfway house services).
The department also operates the First Step Clinic, an outpatient program and the Municipal Alliances to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
