Human Relations Commission:
Mission

The Cumberland County Human Relations Commission has been formed to aid in eliminating bias incidents which occur to persons or property because of race, color, creed, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation, as same are prohibited by statute.

The members of the Commission shall contact community leaders in the fields of government, education, religion, the media, business and law enforcement, as well as encourage grassroots support for programs stressing sensitivity to diversity in our population and the promotion of understanding.

The Commission is not an advocacy group.  Its purpose is to serve as an umbrella group with the broadest cultural representation in order to reach its goal of promoting understanding about prejudice and stereotypes to lessen bias offenses
