William Frederick Weber: At Weber's Candy, Some Good Things Never Changed

Weber’s Candy Store has been making and selling ribbon candy, toy candy, candy canes, brittles, and chocolates for 111 years. Always at 16 S. Laurel Street in Bridgeton. And always owned by William Frederick Weber.

Candy making was the only trade the first William Frederick Weber knew when he moved from Philadelphia to Bridgeton. The 20-year-old opened his confectionary in 1888 – and it’s been a family operation ever since.

Today, William Frederick Weber “Fred” III, 71, still shows up every day to help with the candy making, but six years ago he turned the business over to his son, William Frederick “Will” IV, 40.

They ship candy to every state and around the world, and of course, sell out of the Bridgeton shop.

Weber children have grown up the proverbial kids in a candy shop – and often the envy of their classmates and friends.

“I loved candy when I was a kid and I still love it,” says Will – that’s William Frederick Weber IV.
