J. Delbert "Del" Brandt:
Impressible Chronicler Keeps Tabs on Cumberland   History

J. Delbert “Del” Brandt was Cumberland County’s first official historian.

He has spent countless hours researching and documenting historical data, and he continues to bring local history to life each week in theTime Capsules column, published each Saturday in The Daily Journal.

Brandt served as Cumberland County’s first state-sanctioned historian for nearly 20 years. Upon his retirement in 1999, county officials recognized his contributions by awarding him the title “Cumberland County Historian Emeritus.”

Brandt’s success in sharing the wonders of history with others has earned him a place in the annals of South Jersey history.
